21 Aug, 2009 01:30 PM

Four up-and-coming Port Pirie motocross riders, Fraser Heidrich 14, Jye Breed 14, Scott Watts 14 and Josh Bairstow 15, along with senior rider Josh Dunstall were drilled by the best in Australia, in a three-day specialist-coaching clinic last week.

Greg Moss, head coach of Moss Institute in New South Wales is a level two Master Coach, accredited by the Australian Institute of Sport and was in Port Pirie showing the boys the drills, skills and thrills of the popular motocross and supacross sport.

President of the Port Pirie Motor Cycle Club Jamie Heidrich said the club was extremely lucky to gain the service of the top Australian junior coach who is currently coaching a team for the World Junior Championships being held in New Zealand this year.

Moss has been involved in motocross for 38 years with 23 years coaching experience.

He has unique skills that are demonstrated time and time again, in selecting future champions and his cleverness in relating with riders is second to none. He has the ability to isolate rider’s problems and create leading edge training techniques.

The super coach is the father and exclusive coach of twin motocross sensations Matt and Jake Moss.

Matt Moss is the 2008 Australian Supercross Champion and brother Jake is riding in the high stakes of world motocross and super cross in the USA.

In 2008 the Moss Institute laid claim to seven national titles and 11 state titles.

Moss said the Institute prides itself in giving the utmost personal attention to each and every rider.

He said that Port Pirie was very lucky to have two permanent outdoor tracks being the Motocross track on Port Broughton Road and the Supercross track on the old speedway sight on Port Germein Road.

The experienced coach was very impressed with the standard of the junior riders who attended the clinic and claimed that senior rider 24 year old Josh Dunstall showed his class.

“He is up there with riders I coach, all he needed was a bit of fine tuning,” Moss said.
