It will be exciting start to the season with the Demons up against some good opposition and a period of soccer that the Byrne Park combination will probably gauge just how its championship season will go.

Games against the Kings, Jets, Campbelltown, Modbury, Olympic and the Cove suggest the Demons will be up against an ideal mix of different league opponents.

Just a hard summer’s training and little trialling at Byrne Park from the coach, Anthony Brevi, will lead the Demons into a soccer season without any local opposition to worry about for the first time in local soccer history. The Northern Demons kicked off its 12th season in State League, whereas Port Pirie City will debut later in the SAASL.

They will return to Sunday soccer after a record 14 years of Adelaide soccer from a country club.

The Pre-Season Cup consists of six groups of five teams that see all three FFSA leagues participating.

The top teams from each group plus the two highest finishing teams will win Quarter Finals spots.

The Northern Demons will be utilising the skill of their younger players by moving them up into the senior sides.

James Capurso and Drew Champion are training for the senior side whilst Ben Higginbottom, Vittorio Ciampi, Matthew Lobasso and Nathan Introna are the youngsters training in the under 19’s side.

They got their first feel for playing in senior sides at the weekend in the pre-season cup. The boys are looking forward to the season and hope that the pre-season games pay off.

Reserves coach, Phil Hodges, says the boys have come a long way and a junior program has helped them to improve.

“Our lads have reaped the rewards...It will be nice to see A Grade debuts in the season.”
