This weekend’s round of senior tennis will see the Tennis4Men competition commence tomorrow night at 6pm, and for the first time this season, the newly erected lights on courts 1-5 will be used for the Friday night comp.
There is an increase of two teams in the Tennis4Men comp this season taking the tally to six teams in a 12-week comp.
The only change to the rules this year is that whoever finishes on top of the ladder after 12 rounds will be declared the premiers.
There will be no finals for Tennis4Men.
Wandearah Purple will begin their 2009-10 campaign on Saturday in the Club Doubles competition after being programmed with a bye in round one last week.
They will come up against Uniting Blue on the new blue-on-blue courts in what is expected to be a fairly warm day, if long term predictions are anything to go by.
The big news this week in senior tennis is that there is a strong possibility that two professional tennis players may play in our Port Pirie comp on Saturday.
If all goes to plan, British Pro Tour players Emily Webley-Smith and Danielle Brown could line up against each other in the match between Railway Pennant A grade team and Railway Green B grade team.
Trinity will play Uniting in the A grade match of the round and judging by last week’s results this could be a close game.
