16 Aug, 2011 10:18 AM
Mining Conference: Uranium project director Marc Vogts kicked off the conference in style, speaking about BHP Billiton’s proposed Olympic Dam expansion.

“We are almost there. We are very excited,” he said.

“We are in the closing stages of getting key approvals.

“It will underpin your future and your children’s future.”

BHP Billiton manager of contracts and procurement John Howarth also shared some background into the expansion. He said the Environmental Impact Statement was going through the process of review with government bodies.

“It is well advanced, it is going well, so we are hoping that it will be concluded shortly,” he said.
