Young Emily D’Agostino has a story to tell that she will most likely be telling in years to come.
It is an amazing tale of being in the right place at the right time when Emily and her American friends had an experience of huge magnitude.
While Emily was waiting for a table with friends at Peter’s Sushi and Thai restaurant in Nashville, American friend Sarah McAlpine almost went into collapse when she sighted a heavily pregnant Nicole Kidman and her husband Keith Urban sitting a few tables away.
It is a respected fact that in Nashville, the public does not harass the stars but Emily was from Australia and just could not miss this opportunity to speak to them.
The trio followed the famous couple from the restaurant and Emily bravely asked could she have a photo.
“I am from Australia,” she said. In reply, Nicole said, “So you are from Australia?” and surprisingly put her arm around the stunned young traveller.
Keith Urban was standing back when Nicole said, “yes honey,” as she beckoned him into the photo. On leaving the couple, he shook Emily’s hand and echoed, “It was lovely to meet you.”
This encounter was the icing on the cake for Emily during a fantastic seven-week holiday to America.
Emily travelled with her cousin Nathan D’Agostino to stay with their host Sarah, who was a Rotary Exchange student in Port Pirie during 2006-2007 when they all became friends.
Staying at Lake Michigan, Emily and Nathan did road trips north to Boston and south to Nashville.
It was while visiting Sarah’s sister who lived in Nashville that resulted in the chance meeting.
Unfortunately, while the group was waiting to be seated at the restaurant, Nathan went off to do some shopping and missed the exciting exchange of greetings.
The enthralled Emily said that they were beautiful people.
“ She looked and sounded exactly as I expected, just as she does on television and in the movies – just simply beautiful,” she said.
