Island boat ramp now on smaller scale

30 Jan, 2012 01:30 PM
The Mount Remarkable District Council has missed out on federal funding for a boat ramp at Weeroona Island.

It sought cash from Regional Development Australia for “essential community and economic infrastructure”.

Council chief executive Sean Cheriton said the boat ramp would still go ahead on a smaller scale.

“That funding was seen as an opportunity for some additional funds, something larger-scale,” he said.

The council is likely to apply again in the next round of funding.

Port Pirie Regional Council made no application for the funding after being unsuccessful in its last attempt.

UnitingCare Wesley was granted about $1 million towards a refurbishment of its Men’s Shed in the previous funding round.
