Sid Jain is the new financial services manager at the Port Pirie Regional Council and he expects to enjoy the lifestyle of the city.

He arrived in Port Pirie on January 3 from Sydney where he was employed at a metropolitan council for the past two years.

Mr Jain, 32, was born in India and, after migrating to Australia in 1992, he made his home in Adelaide where he gained a Bachelor of Accounting at the University of SA.

Before taking up employment in Port Pirie, Mr Jain and his wife Surabhi spent seven weeks in India where he and his wife have family.

An avid sport lover, Mr Jain enjoys watching all sports. He plays cricket and has competed in soccer and hockey.

He is an Aussie rules fan and follows the Adelaide Crows.

Although it is early days to form a view on Port Pirie, Mr Jain does like the facilities, the size of the city and the closeness to Adelaide.

“The people appear friendly,” he said. “I will enjoy the relaxed lifestyle which will be quite different from living in Sydney.”

Mr Jain accepted a five-year contract, after which he will

consider his options.
