First day of school: The start of a journey of a lifetime

Parents are preparing to help their children through the first day of school on Monday.

Kids Helpline says this is always challenging for children.

“The most important things parents can do are to be positive, patient and supportive. If you listen, your child will share what they are feeling and experiencing,” she said.

Amahli Farinola, 5, and Angus Thompson, 4, will start Reception at St Mark’s College together.

When asked how they were feeling about starting school they said they were excited.

“It won’t be hard. I could look after myself since kindy,” Angus said. Amahli is looking forward to making new friends and learning new things.
