It was good to watch a room filled with big achievers, many being from Port Pirie, being rewarded for excellence in the work they do.
The Achievement Awards, promoted by Bedford, took place in Wallaroo last Friday and honoured the company’s workers and members from Port Pirie, Wallaroo and Kadina.
"Today is the highlight of the year," said Sally Powell, Bedford chief executive officer.
"The people we are applauding today show what can be achieved with the right support."
Daniel Eglington and Kylie Johnson, of Port Pirie, received the achievement award.
"I am a hard worker, but it is good to get this recognition and realise the company can see that," Mr Eglington said.
Another local who was overwhelmed for the recognition was Jenny Degiglio, who took home the leadership award.
"I am humbled and proud. I love working with the people I do, so I feel I get awarded every day really," she said.
"I am thankful for the support from my managers Lorna Bugden and Cathy Macdonald, for mentoring me."
The Nyrstar respiration team - Sharon Young, Stacey Jesson, Ingrid Milligan, Annie Short, Jennifer Gittos, Robert Evans and Gino Rafanelli - brought home the teamwork award.
In the ceremony, this team was presented as outstanding.
According to some of its members, the successful combination is laughter and hard work.
"We are a good team and we have great supervisors. We know how to have a good laugh and take our job seriously at the same time," Stacey Jesson said.
